sorry for reposting, but it is for cancer awareness and I didn’t shoot anything new.
The stop signs are a part of an art exhibit in False creek.
The cancer part on each sign was added after.
My mother was a breast cancer survivor and the world needs to be more aware of the impact to family and friends of those who suffer or have passed.
We need a cure soon.

Cancer Awareness Month
Cancer

April is Cancer Awareness Month, and I would like to bring awareness to breast cancer.
About three months ago I found a lump in my breast. Thankfully I have some education in the medical field and judging by how it felt (round, firm, rubbery, painless, and free moving) and that it had well defined round edges, I figured it was nothing more than a benign tumor. But I got it checked out anyway, of course, and after a couple of doctors visits and an ultrasound it was later ruled out that it was a fibroadenoma. Physicians are unsure what causes fibroadenoma, but when I felt mine I was going through a very stressful part in my life so I would like to think that may have played a role in this tumor developing. Fibroadenoma are common in young women, and can be either removed or, like me, be left in and be check regularly by a doctor. I am very thankful that all it was was a benign tumor. Although it may increase my risk of developing breast cancer later in life.

So to all you ladies (and gentlemen)
Do you regular self exams! Thats how I found mine, and if it isn’t a fibroadenoma and something more dreadful, early detection is the key to beating the disease.

Oh and by the way, I feel like I have to say this: In my case, you cannot see the tumor so it doesn’t deform breasts whats-so-ever.

Cancer Counseling
Cancer

I’m creating a website for my Developmental Counseling Field Study on Cancer Counseling. In this website you’ll find information regarding concerns, treatments, resources, and references (works cited) for living to a better life with cancer.

If you have had cancer (must be an adult over the age of 18) who would like to be part of this field study, please friend me up on flickr and then send me a message. I’ll get back to you on what I would like to know and all the good details.

The website is a work in progress, nothing works except the welcome page for now. Any thoughts on the desing / layout? I’m using Apple’s iWeb just because it’s so easy to use and does not require a lot of time on my part to code or develop.

Versión Traducida de la canción “Cancer” de “My Chemical Romance”. Letra Original Turn away If you could get me a drink Of water ’cause my lips are chapped and faded Call my Aunt Marie Help her gather all my things And bury me in all my favorite colors My sisters and my brothers still I will not kiss you ‘Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you Now turn away ‘Cause I’m awful just to see ‘Cause all my hair’s abandoned off my body OH my agony Know that I will never marry, Baby I’m just soggy from the chemo But counting down the days to go It just ain’t living And I just hope you know That if you say Goodbye today I’d ask you to be true ‘Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you ‘Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you

"I wish I had cancer so maybe then people would show some sort of care for me…"

This secret broke my heart. When I first received it [over two months ago] I automatically decided against doing it. I mean I’ve done dark stuff before but this was uncomfortably unfamiliar territory. But then this and that happened and I kinda thought about how big of a secret this is. It’s not really just one thing, it’s a couple, all harnessed into one objective. But I’d like the sender to know that I’ve prayed for them every night since I read this because I’m pretty sure I care about you. :)

VICTORIA – Jan Beitema paid into an insurance policy with Sun Life thinking if she fell ill it would cover her. But after surviving breast cancer, she is now fighting to have her long term disability benefits extended. She’s unable to work, a statement corroborated by her employer, and she says she suffers from chronic pain and fatigue. Appeals to have her benefits extended beyond a two year policy term were denied, without discussion she says. She is now awaiting more medical confirmation of her condition from a Rheumatologist, in hopes of overturning the decision. Sun Life said in a statement today they will now review here case further.

Cancer
