International Finance Centre : Hong Kong

The International Finance Centre (IFC) is an integrated commercial development on the waterfront of Hong Kong’s Central District.
A prominent landmark on Hong Kong Island, IFC consists of two skyscrapers, the IFC Mall, and the 55-storey Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong. Tower 2 is the tallest building in Hong Kong, a title formerly held by Central Plaza. It is the third-tallest building in the Greater China region and the seventh-tallest office building in the world, based on structural heights; by roof height, only the Taipei 101, Shanghai World Financial Center, and Willis Tower exceed it. It is of similar height to the former World Trade Center.
The International Commerce Centre, currently under construction above the MTR Kowloon station and scheduled for completion in 2010, will surpass 2IFC in each of these categories.

A few nice Shopping images I found:
Shopping – Ecstasy

Shopping – a near religious experience in our consumer societies all around the world – with the possible exception of North Korea. Shopping as the New World Religion. Advertising suggests: We stop shopping – we are doomed. Politicians watch their countries’ consumer purchase indices nervously. Listen to the pulse of our society. Get with it. Go out there now and get high on shopping.
Yes, this is a social critique.

Maternal Health in Developing Countries

A mom and her newborn baby at the Maternal & Child Health Training Institute for medically needy in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Maternal mortality remains a very serious concern in Asia and the Pacific – especially in South and South-West Asia, which has one third of the world’s maternal deaths. Only 5% of births in Nepal and 19% in India were attended by skilled personnel in 2006, according to UNESCAP.

Mental Health: Stress and Work

Cover of an old 1969 Mental Health magazine from the UK I found in one of my old boxes – I used to work in mental health years ago, and these were being thrown out – they were old and out of date when I got them and now they are a curious historical record of a time before platform shoes, before disco, before Thatcher, before yuppies, before the internet – before Paxil, Zoloft and Prozac (yes there was a time before Prozac!)

Colorplan Ebony 540gsm
Black foiling, overlaid with white foiling
85mm x 55mm
Quantity: 1,000
Typeface: Custodia (OurType foundry, Belgium)
We went with the Colorplan range from GF Smith, a lovely, flecky, tactile stock. At 540gsm, it’s quite a heavy weight but it feels great in the hand.
‘i hate my work job’ | business man project – explored

Image by Adam Foster | Codefor
This image was part of a 6 piece photo essay that became a kind of social experiment at hate.codefor.com titled Poverty of the Mind.
A project for university exploring the impact visual media can have on raising awareness of less known cultural issues in our society. I chose Poverty of the Mind as an issue and created a story of a business man who for whatever reason is unable to peruse his happiness and becomes trapped in a job he is clearly unhappy with!
Thanks to Lewis for being my model for the day! His expression in this photo was not acting, I think he just really didn’t like being in front of the camera for a change (he’s also a photographer), hehe.
BIG is better

Recession business

A new shop opened in our neighbourhood – wonder if it has to do with the (effects of) the financial crisis?..
Disclaimer: Couldn’t help the association: unusual to open a business right now, when most others are closing. No mockery intnded in respect of a dignified business serving a community need, or (even less) a bad-taste joke on its ccustomers.
